Direction

In space and astronautical engineering, direction refers to the orientation of an object or spacecraft relative to a reference frame. This reference frame can be the celestial sphere, a planet's surface, or an arbitrary coordinate system. Direction is typically described using three angles: pitch, yaw, and roll. Pitch is the rotation of the spacecraft around its x-axis, yaw is the rotation around its y-axis, and roll is the rotation around its z-axis. These angles are used to control the attitude of the spacecraft and to point its instruments and antennas in the desired direction. In addition, direction is important for navigation and guidance, as it allows spacecraft to determine their position and velocity relative to a target. This information is used to plan trajectories and perform maneuvers.
