HEPA Filters

HEPA (High-Efficiency Particulate Air) filters are a type of air filter that can trap a large amount of very small particles that other vacuum cleaners would simply recirculate back into the air of your home. HEPA filters were originally developed in the 1940s by the US Atomic Energy Commission as a way to capture radioactive particles. HEPA filters are commonly used in spacecraft, airplanes, and other environments where clean air is critical. In space missions, HEPA filters are used to purify the air inside the spacecraft and prevent the crew from inhaling harmful particles. HEPA filters are also used in space suits to provide clean air to astronauts during spacewalks. In addition, HEPA filters are used in the International Space Station to remove dust, allergens, and other particles from the air.
