Kinetic Impactors

Kinetic Impactors are devices used in space and astronautical engineering to deflect or redirect the trajectory of an asteroid or a comet that poses a potential threat to Earth. The device works by colliding with the asteroid or comet at high speed, transferring its kinetic energy to the object, and changing its velocity. The impactor can be launched from a spacecraft or a ground-based system, and its design and trajectory depend on the size, composition, and velocity of the target object. Kinetic Impactors are considered a viable option for planetary defense against Near-Earth Objects (NEOs) due to their simplicity, reliability, and effectiveness.
