Load
In space and astronautical engineering, load refers to the amount of weight or force that a structure or component is designed to support or withstand. This can include the weight of the spacecraft itself, as well as any payloads, fuel, or other equipment that it carries. Load can also refer to the stresses and strains that are placed on a spacecraft during launch, re-entry, or other phases of flight. Engineers must carefully calculate and design for these loads in order to ensure that the spacecraft can operate safely and reliably in the harsh environment of space. Factors that can affect load include acceleration, vibration, temperature changes, and radiation exposure.
