Nuclear Reactor

A nuclear reactor is a device that initiates and controls a sustained nuclear chain reaction. It is used for generating electricity, propelling ships, and for research purposes. The reactor uses nuclear fuel, typically uranium-235 or plutonium-239, which undergoes fission and releases energy in the form of heat. This heat is then used to produce steam, which drives a turbine to generate electricity. The reactor is surrounded by a thick shield to protect the environment from radiation. The control rods are used to regulate the rate of the reaction and to shut it down in case of emergency. The coolant, usually water, is used to transfer heat from the reactor core to the steam generator. The nuclear reactor is a complex system that requires careful design, construction, and operation to ensure safety and efficiency.
