Chlorophyll
Chlorophyll is a green pigment found in plants and algae that is responsible for absorbing light energy from the sun and converting it into chemical energy through the process of photosynthesis. It is a complex molecule composed of a porphyrin ring, which is similar to the heme group found in hemoglobin, and a long hydrophobic tail.
